Giovanna Caruso

File #1: Camp Half-Blood
Sub-file #7: Caruso, Giovanna
~ORIGINAL CHARACTER~

Description:
DRUM ROLL PLEASE! ... please give a round of applause for our very own Giovanna Caruso! Whoohoo! ...oh boy, where do I start?
Well, I had this whole post already written and ready to publish, but I was looking it over and was disappointed by the way I rushed through it. So I'm going to try this again, really go in depth.
Giovanna Rosabelle Caruso (did I ever give Gigi a middle name in the story??? I know I gave Ria one, Nicolette, but I can't remember for the life of me if Gigi ever got one... so if she did, tell me, and if she didn't, there it is: Rosabelle) is my brain child, and a really big part of the inspiration for this story. Developing her character has been like peeling an onion to me, there are lots of layers.
Like, how at first, we see this girl running away from home, then upon her first days at Camp Half-Blood, shows a feisty but still vulnerable personality. She quickly bonds with our buddy Nico and his friends, unknowingly stealing his heart and leaving him damaged when she runs away, believing herself a psycho murderer in the making (hey, let's be honest, wouldn't you turn a little desperate if you thought that was your fate?). Then we see her need for a home when she hitchhikes with Tristan to Base, where she is thrown for ANOTHER loop when she met her twin sister Adrianna... I could go on and on, but y'all have read the story, so I don't have to.
As an author, it has been a pleasure getting to know Gigi and myself through writing this, and if I could say one thing about the thoughts behind creating this petite Italian spitfire has been that I think she embodies all of us in some way. She makes good decisions and bad ones, tries her best to keep the people she loves safe, and is desperate for a place to belong - all the while battling her own personal demons, that resurface with every twist in the road. And I think we can all relate to that somehow. I know I can...
And I know you guys really want Gigi to get her act together and go back to Nico, but PATIENCE, young grasshoppers. After all, Dorothy and Alice both went on magical journeys, but they both eventually returned to the place where they belonged, having learned from their experiences. Let's hope Gigi does the same, hmm?

Jake Mason

File #1: Camp Half-Blood
Sub-file #6: Mason, Jake

Description:
Jake Mason, son of Hephaestus, and the cabin head. He took over in the fifth book when Beckendorf died.... I think I shed a few tears at that part. He also wasn't mentioned a lot in the books, in fact only once or twice, but for some reason I decided to take the beginnings of his character and roll with it.
Now, I know he doesn't have a big part in Gigi yet, but I've got BIG plans for him [rubs hands together and laughs evilly]. I've also heard some rumors that he might have a main role in an upcoming sequel to Gigi - but that's classified information!!! Very hush-hush! So... don't tell anyone! [winks]
I envisioned him like what you see in the picture: tall, muscular (he is a smithy, after all), blonde. His personality is as follows: just a really nice guy. There aren't many of those left in the world. Personally, I wish I could meet a few. Ha. Just kidding, there are lots of great guys out there. And Jake is one of them.

Nico di Angelo

File #1: Camp Half-Blood
Sub-file #4: di Angelo, Nico

Description:
Everyone, let's just have a moment of silence in honor of this guy, because, let's face it, he's been through a LOT: his mother dying, his father (Hades, by the way) leaving him and his sister in a time capsule of sorts for more than half a century, his sister dying, and now, the love of his life is missing.
I wish this guy was real, because I really think he needs a good hug (which wouldn't be any trouble on my part, because may I just say, he's quite a looker).
Anyway, this Italian kid was also participating in the investigation back at Camp Half-Blood before he went a little loco and decided to go rogue. Then he was captured by who we know now as the thugs from Base. And all because he wanted to find the girl he loves. Shakespeare-tragedy worthy, almost, huh?
...and you didn't hear this from me, but do not despair, Nico fans, things are going to start looking up soon! (that's kind of a weird saying, because doesn't everyone always say 'don't look down'?)
And as a side note, Gigi is a lucky girl. I wouldn't mind having that boy chasing after me, haha (I heard somewhere that they want the kid who played Edmund in the Narnia movies to play Nico in the next film, but frankly he's too white. Nico is Italian! Why are these Hollywood people screwing up my characters!!!)

Grover Underwood

File #1: Camp Half-Blood
Sub-file #3: Underwood, Grover

Description:
I have to say, Grover was one of my favorite characters in the books. He's comical, sarcastic, wears cool t-shirts, he's a nature-lover, and he's half goat - I mean, c'mon people, who doesn't love goats? ...unless you've had unpleasant petting zoo experiences. Then I guess you should get over it, or go get therapy. No judgement, though, we all have our phobias.
...but I digress. Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised in the movie when they developed Grover's character to be even cooler than in the books (if that was possible). So I wanted to keep the guy that acted Grover as the character visual. Besides, I love the fact they made him black. Too many white people in those books (kidding!...kinda)
Grover, our lovable satyr, Percy's BFF, and the chosen one of Pan, etc etc. In my story, I made him a little older, a little more mature, and his relationship with Juniper more evident. I think that's part of the message I'm trying to get across in my story, how people deal with their relationships, romantic or platonic, good and bad. Good relationships= Grover & Juniper, Percy & Annabeth. Bad relationships (aka badly handled) = Nico & Gigi, Solene, Hadley & Stolls.
But, yeah, all the character changes I make are necessary to the personal intensity of the plot line, but I hope I haven't altered them TOO greatly.

Annabeth Chase

File #1: Camp Half-Blood
Sub-file #2: Chase, Annabeth

Description:
Annabeth Chase, our famously blonde-haired, gray-eyed beauty with a kick butt attitude. According to some of my readers, apparently I've mellowed out her character and made her more likable, even if I was trying to stay true to her original representation. I guess subliminally I thought that, since I was planning on officially making her Percy's fiance and the camp "mother", she should show a mature, maternal side of her.
But fear not, the Annabeth we all know from the original series is still with us in Gigi, she's just not the main focus of the story, so I have modified her to fit that focus.
And by the way, finding a character visual for this chick was HARD (ask my buddy Liz, who has put up with a lot from my indecision... I probably showed her fifteen different pictures at LEAST)! But I think I finally have someone I really like. Blonde=check. Gray eyes=check. And I think she has that don't-mess-with-me Look that I was looking for. That's our Annabeth!

Percy Jackson

File #1: Camp Half-Blood
Sub-file #1: Jackson, Percy

Description:
This, my dear readers, is the one and only Percy Jackson!!! (3 years older than when the first book series ended). The famous - and infamous - son of Poseidon and Sally Jackson, leader of Camp Half-Blood, and now the fiance of Annabeth Chase [bows at applause].
In Gigi, while Percy is not the main character or the main hero, he is still vital to the story line, because he is heading up the good guys at Camp Half-Blood. He wants to find Gigi and Nico as soon as possible, first just because he didn't want Nico to go through abandonment again, then because he is slowly finding out about the dangers that are heading their way. Keep pushing on, Percy! I know you can do it! ...well, I'm the author, of course I do. Heehee.
(by the way, how did I do at finding a picture for an older Percy? I didn't think Logan Lerman, the movie actor, fit my vision well enough, and it took awhile to track down a good looking guy with black hair, green eyes who worked).

[WARNING: MOST OF THE MOVIE ACTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED FOR THEIR CHARACTER VISUALS IN MY STORY. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THIS, THEN THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM. THANK YOU.]

Hello, my dear darling readers! ...er, can I still say that? Do I say bloggers now? Oh well, semantics. Still, hi guys!
I was going to go right ahead and just start posting, but I felt the urge of a perfectionist writer, and thought I should add one more introductory post, just a run through of what I will post, and in the exact order (yeah, I planned that all out. Do you see how OCD I am about these things??? It's a curse, really, but I suppose it does benefit you guys, unless you think I'm the Monk of writing, which I am... ever seen the show Monk? It's awesome. I recommend it... and I'm rambling. Oops!)
Anyway... I have divided the posts, let's call them files now, in the spirit of the blog, into four parts. Here's the list:

Like subscribing on Fanfiction.net.
Love you guys! Right after I publish this, I'm going to post Percy's character visual, according to my contents list. Let me know what you think!

Introduction

Dear Readers:

Welcome to The Gigi Files, a blog that is made specifically as an extension of my story on Fanfiction.net, Gigi and the Olympians: The Next Prophecy. If you have stumbled across this blog without having any knowledge of my story, then... well, you're just going to be confused. So, if that's you, then you can go now!
Okay, now that we've gotten rid of those bums ;), let's get down to business. *cracks knuckles*
For the duration of this blog, each individual post will include a picture of whatever/whomever I wanted to show a visual of, and a little description, just for clarification.
Here's a little rundown of what's to come:

  • Character visuals for all of my Original Characters (i.e. Gigi, Ria, Tristan, etc...)
  • Character visuals for Rick Riordan's characters, but how they look in MY story (i.e. Percy, Annabeth, Thalia, etc...)
  • A picture of Annabeth's ring, just in case some of you didn't see it or didn't see the right one :)
  • And MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE, a wedding dress... in the future... :D mwahaha
Okay, well, that's about all I can say about the blog for now, except maybe that I really hope you guys enjoy it, and that you don't disagree with my character visuals TOO much (although if you do, well that's not my problem and you can go on imagining them however you darn well please) And please, please, please tell me what you think about this blog via review on Fanfiction.net. ...or you could just post a comment... whatever floats your boat! :)

Keep reading my story! And STAY AWESOME!

p.s. don't worry, each picture has been stamped by dbd823's stamp of approval (she's the author of The Royal Removal  and my unofficial coauthor). So I'm not doing this by myself, nor will I be the only one to blame if something goes wrong!
